Whoa.
I'm here. What's it been, three days? What a blur! The other volunteers and I have
been enjoying some major pow wow and kumbaya time and it’s been everything we
hoped it would be. I love my new family here.
Our
internet access is few and far between and short lived sometimes so here are
brief highlights:
Met
up with an airport buddy also in Peace Corps and found out we were roommates.
Beer
in the hotel room with two other volunteers – we missed the group train to
dinner at 8pm and told them we’d just meet them there. Shortly after
leaving the hotel to walk to the pub it started to drizzle... then rain... then
pour... cats and dogs... then elephants and rhinos. After arriving half-buzzed
and soaking wet to the table of the other 25 volunteers who had already sat
down, the waitress asked us if we need a towel and/or a beer. Both please.
Played one last game of doubles pool in DC. We won; left the states on top!

Took
two flights to Nicaragua running on 2.5 hours of sleep. I can’t sleep on
airplanes. I was very thankful for three dudical dude brothers, one of which
has a dudical dudette girlfriend, who all four hooked me up with some new
music. That’s what got me through the plane rides, guys!
That and the fact that we saw a semi-active volcano out the window. What's up.
50-minute
bus ride to our amazing pueblo-resort-hotel-retreat-this-is-literally-the-coolest-place-I’ve-been-to-in-a-long-time-possibly-ever.
Saw six dogs, five horses, one parrot, zero monkeys.
Lots
of Spanish, talking, listening, learning, reading, sharing, laughing, smiling,
drawing, and experiencing all Peace Corps has to offer. Guys, I know I’m
exactly where I need to be, and it’s only been what, three days?
A la
orden.
Credit to volunteers Ruben and Claire for the photos! Haven't unpacked my camera yet...
